# $REALM Ecosystem Whitepaper

## One token. Many worlds.

**Version 0.1 — Public Draft | August 2026**

> $REALM is being designed as the shared utility token for a growing family of games. **Vastward: Deep Space** is the first game in that ecosystem—not the last.

---

## 1. The short version

$REALM is a planned Solana-based game utility token launching through **pump.fun**. It will first be used in **Vastward: Deep Space**, a browser-based space expedition and strategy game.

Players send ships on expeditions, travel across dangerous sectors, collect materials, improve their operations, and compete in standardized Ranked runs. The game is designed to support different play styles: casual exploration, resource production, trading, collection, and seasonal competition.

The long-term goal is larger than one title. Future games developed under the Realm ecosystem are intended to use the same $REALM token, giving the token new utility as the ecosystem grows. Each game may have its own progression, resources, and internal currency, while $REALM acts as the shared economic layer between projects.

The design follows four simple principles:

1. **Playing should create demand for utility—not unlimited token emissions.**
2. **Competitive results should come from decisions and preparation—not wallet size.**
3. **Rewards must be funded before they are promised.**
4. **Every new game should add meaningful uses for $REALM.**

---

## 2. What is the Realm ecosystem?

The Realm ecosystem is a long-term game network built around one shared token.

Instead of creating a new token for every game, the project intends to expand the utility of $REALM through multiple connected game experiences. This gives players one recognizable ecosystem asset while allowing each game to maintain its own identity and balanced progression system.

### The ecosystem model

| Layer | Purpose |
| --- | --- |
| **$REALM** | Shared token used for access, premium utility, competitive participation, marketplace settlement, cosmetics, services, and selected ecosystem products. |
| **Game currencies** | Non-withdrawable currencies used for ordinary progression inside a specific game. In Vastward, this currency is called **Station Credits**. |
| **Game resources** | Materials earned through play and consumed by crafting, upgrades, missions, and player demand. |
| **Game-specific assets** | Ships, modules, cosmetics, licenses, collectibles, and other items governed by the rules of their original game. |

$REALM may be usable across future Realm games, but this does **not** mean that every ship, item, score, or progression level will automatically transfer between games. Cross-game assets will only be introduced when they improve gameplay and can be balanced responsibly.

---

## 3. Why use one token across several games?

Many game tokens depend on a single product. If player interest in that product slows down, the token can lose most of its utility.

The Realm ecosystem is intended to reduce that dependency by building multiple sources of use over time. Every future game can introduce new reasons to hold or spend $REALM without forcing all games to share the same progression system.

This model can create a healthier cycle:

- New games bring new players into the ecosystem.
- Existing holders gain access to additional utility.
- New sinks can support demand without relying on artificial scarcity alone.
- Different game genres can attract different player types.
- The ecosystem is not permanently tied to the success of one gameplay loop.

This is a development direction, not a guarantee. New games will be released only when they meet the project's quality, security, and economic standards.

---

## 4. The first game: Vastward: Deep Space

**Vastward: Deep Space** is a browser-based idle expedition and strategy game. Players command ships traveling through deep space, make route decisions, collect resources, and build long-term progression.

The game is designed to be easy to enter but difficult to master. It does not require direct ship steering. The important choices happen before and during an expedition: selecting a sector, choosing a route stance, preparing a module loadout, managing fuel and resources, and responding to decision events.

### Core game loop

1. **Prepare** — Choose a ship, sector, route stance, and module loadout.
2. **Launch** — Begin an expedition and travel across deep space.
3. **Decide** — Respond to timed events or allow the autopilot to choose.
4. **Collect** — Recover cargo and materials encountered during the expedition.
5. **Return** — Bank eligible distance and settle the expedition result.
6. **Progress** — Convert cargo, craft supplies, improve ships, or prepare for competition.
7. **Compete** — Enter standardized Ranked runs and pursue seasonal leaderboard positions.

Expeditions can continue while the player is away. When the player returns, the server calculates the valid elapsed progress and restores the run.

### Exploration sectors

Vastward begins with three space regions:

| Sector | Experience |
| --- | --- |
| **Orbital Fringe** | The opening frontier and the safest environment for new pilots. |
| **Asteroid Expanse** | A more demanding region with greater hazards and resource opportunities. |
| **The Voidline** | A high-risk deep-space region intended for advanced progression. |

Additional sectors, events, resources, and mission types may be added as the universe expands.

---

## 5. Casual exploration and Ranked competition

Vastward separates ordinary progression from competitive scoring.

### Casual expeditions

Casual expeditions are the main progression mode. Players travel, gather cargo, earn banked distance, obtain materials, and improve their station operations. Owned ships and modules matter here because this is where long-term progression is expressed.

### Ranked runs

Ranked is a standardized competitive mode. Every pilot uses the same free competitive module pool and the same fitting budget. Personal spending, owned cosmetics, premium ships, and regular inventory advantages do not increase Ranked score.

Ranked performance is intended to reward route planning, risk management, decision-making, and consistent participation.

At the planned launch configuration, Ranked entry will require:

- The required amount of banked or lifetime distance.
- At least **US$10 equivalent in $REALM holdings**.
- One **Launch Core**.
- One **Regatta Kit**.

Players are intended to receive a controlled daily Launch Core opportunity. Additional entries will be limited through material requirements, token utility, and daily caps. Final quantities and pricing rules will be published before Ranked rewards become active.

Holding $REALM establishes eligibility; the holding requirement is not automatically charged as an entry payment. Consumable entry items are separate.

---

## 6. The two-currency economy

Vastward uses two different currencies because ordinary game progression and ecosystem value should not be treated as the same thing.

### Station Credits

Station Credits are Vastward's internal progression currency.

- Earned through ordinary in-game activity.
- Used for routine upgrades, supplies, fuel, and station services.
- Non-transferable between players.
- Non-withdrawable.
- Not a cryptocurrency.
- Not counted as project treasury revenue.

Station Credits allow the game to reward activity without constantly issuing $REALM or placing unnecessary sell pressure on the ecosystem token.

### $REALM

$REALM is the shared ecosystem utility token.

It is intended for uses such as:

- Access to Realm games and selected premium modes.
- Competitive eligibility and controlled entry items.
- Player marketplace settlement after secure escrow is deployed.
- High-value services and convenience features.
- Cosmetics and collectible products.
- Fleet, guild, creator, and community systems.
- Utility introduced by future Realm games.

$REALM is not intended to replace every normal in-game action. If every small upgrade required the token, new players could be priced out and the game could become more financial than enjoyable.

---

## 7. Hold-to-Play access

Vastward is planned to use a low-cost **Hold-to-Play** access model.

The intended public launch gate is:

- **General game access:** hold at least **US$5 equivalent in $REALM**.
- **Ranked eligibility:** hold at least **US$10 equivalent in $REALM**, plus the required distance and entry items.

These are holding requirements, not subscription payments. Players keep control of their tokens unless they deliberately spend them on a product or service.

Because the price of a token can change, the project will publish the pricing source, calculation window, refresh schedule, and temporary safeguards before activating value-based gates. The goal is to keep access understandable and reasonably stable rather than changing the token requirement every few minutes.

These value-based gates are approved economic direction for post-soak implementation and are not yet active in the current prototype.

---

## 8. $REALM utility in Vastward

The first group of planned $REALM utilities focuses on participation and convenience without selling leaderboard power.

| Utility | Purpose | Competitive rule |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Regatta Kit** | A required consumable for a Ranked launch. | Controls participation frequency; does not increase score. |
| **Launch Core fabrication** | Allows controlled creation of additional entry components using materials and $REALM. | Subject to daily limits; does not increase score. |
| **Charted Route Credit** | Provides a defined progression or route-access benefit when manually redeemed. | Cannot create duplicate credit and cannot directly increase standardized Ranked score. |
| **Orbital Warp Permit** | Unlocks a premium travel or route service under the final production specification. | Will not provide a paid scoring advantage in standardized Ranked. |
| **Cosmetics and collectibles** | Optional visual identity, profile, ship, or collection products. | Cosmetic only unless a non-ranked utility is clearly disclosed. |
| **Marketplace services** | Supports secure player-to-player settlement once escrow and verified payment systems are live. | Trades do not alter the standardized Ranked loadout rules. |

Exact prices, recipes, limits, and availability may be adjusted through testing. Material changes will be documented publicly before activation.

---

## 9. Player economic roles

The Realm economy is intended to support several types of participants rather than forcing everyone into the leaderboard.

### Explorers

Explorers focus on expeditions, discovery, banked distance, and sector progression. Their activity produces the materials and game knowledge needed by the wider economy.

### Resource suppliers

Resource-focused players gather materials used in crafting, fuel production, entry components, upgrades, and future contracts. At launch, ordinary cargo conversion supports Station Credit progression. Direct player-to-player $REALM trading will only activate after verified payment and escrow protections are complete.

### Competitors

Competitors consume resources and entry items to participate in Ranked seasons. Their demand helps connect resource production with competitive activity.

### Collectors and creators

Collectors may acquire limited cosmetics, profile items, lore collectibles, and other non-scoring assets. Creator cosmetics and revenue-sharing structures are being evaluated but are not yet active.

### Fleet participants

Future fleet systems may allow players to organize missions, goals, and shared identity. A limited Charter Fleet or Fleet Commander model is under evaluation. No fleet license, revenue share, or fixed supply should be considered available until its final rules are published.

---

## 10. How players may earn

The ecosystem is intended to create economic opportunities, but it does not promise guaranteed income or a fixed return.

Potential earning paths include:

- Selling eligible resources or crafted goods to other players after the secure marketplace launches.
- Competing for pre-funded seasonal leaderboard rewards.
- Completing future sponsored contracts or ecosystem missions.
- Creating approved cosmetic content under a future creator program.
- Participating in future fleet activities with clearly funded rewards.
- Trading eligible collectibles where platform rules permit.

Rewards must come from a defined source. They may be funded by a pre-funded prize wallet, verified net revenue, sponsorships, marketplace fees, or an announced treasury allocation. Normal gameplay will not automatically generate unlimited withdrawable $REALM.

Player earnings will vary according to demand, performance, activity, market conditions, and the rules of each feature.

---

## 11. Sustainable economy design

The project's economic model is based on controlled supply, recurring utility, and funded rewards.

### 11.1 Utility before emissions

$REALM rewards should not be issued simply because time passed. The game should first create useful reasons for players to hold or spend the token.

### 11.2 Treasury-first sinks

At the initial stage, eligible $REALM purchases are intended to flow to the ecosystem treasury. No automatic burn mechanism is promised at launch. Burns, buybacks, liquidity actions, or other supply policies may only be introduced after they are modeled, funded, and publicly explained.

### 11.3 Pre-funded competitions

Seasonal prize pools must be secured before a season is announced. If a reward is advertised as a US-dollar value paid in $REALM, the project intends to determine and lock the token amount before the season begins using a published market-price method, then keep that token quantity fixed for the season.

The target for the first public Ranked season is a prize pool worth approximately **US$1,000**, subject to confirmed funding and the official season announcement. It is a target—not a guaranteed obligation in this draft.

### 11.4 Resource sinks

Materials must leave the economy as well as enter it. Crafting, repairs, fuel, access kits, entry items, contracts, and upgrades are intended to create recurring consumption.

### 11.5 Controlled participation

Daily limits, crafting requirements, eligibility gates, and anti-abuse checks can prevent a small number of accounts from extracting disproportionate value.

### 11.6 Ongoing balancing

Drop rates, recipes, fees, and limits may be adjusted using real gameplay data. Changes should be announced, measured, and introduced carefully, especially when they affect player-owned resources.

---

## 12. Fair play and security

The game is being built with server-authoritative systems. Important results are calculated and stored by the server instead of trusting values submitted by the player's browser.

The current online prototype has already demonstrated:

- Phantom signed-message authentication without requiring a token transaction for sign-in.
- Persistent player profiles, sessions, runs, inventory, economy records, and leaderboards.
- Server-authoritative expedition results and station actions.
- Offline expedition recovery after refresh or closing the browser.
- Immutable Ranked settlement after a result is finalized.
- Administrative access controls and durable database storage.

Production protections are intended to include:

- One-player-one-account enforcement using multiple risk signals.
- Botting, automation, collusion, and multi-account detection.
- Rate limits and transaction idempotency.
- Verified on-chain payment confirmation.
- Marketplace escrow and failure recovery.
- Withdrawal limits, review windows, and risk-based checks where applicable.
- Audit logs for sensitive operator actions.

No single signal—such as an IP address—will be treated as perfect proof of identity. Enforcement should combine evidence and provide a review process for legitimate players.

---

## 13. Token launch and supply

$REALM is planned to launch through **pump.fun**.

The following details are intentionally not stated as final in this draft:

- Token contract or mint address.
- Launch date and time.
- Final supply and launch configuration.
- Treasury wallet addresses.
- Liquidity and market-support policies.
- Any team, development, marketing, reward, or ecosystem allocations.
- Final pricing oracle or reference-price policy.

Only information published through the project's official website and verified social channels should be treated as authentic. The final mint address will be displayed prominently before or at launch. Users should never rely on a token name or ticker alone because imitation tokens can use similar branding.

There is no promise that $REALM will increase in value. The token is being designed for use within the ecosystem, and its market price may be highly volatile.

---

## 14. Treasury principles

The ecosystem treasury is intended to support long-term operations rather than function as an unrestricted reward pool.

Treasury uses may include:

- Game development and infrastructure.
- Security, monitoring, audits, and anti-abuse systems.
- Pre-funded competitive events.
- Community programs and creator initiatives.
- Art, audio, content, and future game production.
- Marketplace, payment, and ecosystem tooling.
- Liquidity or token-management actions only when publicly authorized.

Before production launch, the project intends to publish wallet labels and a treasury reporting format so community members can distinguish operational funds, prize funds, and other designated balances.

---

## 15. Development status

This whitepaper describes both the working foundation and the intended direction of the ecosystem. It is important to distinguish between them.

## 16. Roadmap

Roadmap timing will be based on readiness rather than fixed promises.

### Phase 1 — Foundation

- Complete the production backend and deployment foundation.
- Validate authentication, persistence, backups, and recovery.
- Run the 24-hour production soak test.
- Finalize the Vastward name and public documentation.

### Phase 2 — Economic hardening

- Implement and test the approved value-based access gates.
- Finalize resource drop rates, recipes, limits, and sinks.
- Add verified on-chain payment handling.
- Complete marketplace security and escrow design.
- Publish treasury and price-reference policies.

### Phase 3 — $REALM launch readiness

- Publish the official mint address and launch information.
- Activate only audited and tested token utilities.
- Fund and announce the first Ranked season.
- Monitor access, demand, player behavior, and treasury flows.

### Phase 4 — Vastward expansion

- Add sectors, missions, resources, ships, cosmetics, and seasonal content.
- Introduce Contract Board and profession systems after balancing.
- Expand fleet, creator, collection, and sponsorship features when funded.

### Phase 5 — Multi-game Realm ecosystem

- Develop and test the next Realm game.
- Define how $REALM utility carries into the new title.
- Introduce cross-game identity or assets only where sustainable.
- Grow $REALM from a single-game token into a multi-game utility layer.

---

## 17. Governance and communication

During early development, product and economic decisions will be led by the core development team because rapid security and balancing responses may be required.

Community feedback will still be important. The project intends to use public proposals, testing periods, player surveys, change logs, and transparent treasury reports to support major decisions.

Holding $REALM does not automatically grant equity, ownership, voting rights, revenue rights, or control over the project. Any future governance or revenue-sharing system would require separate, explicit terms.

---

## 18. Risks

Games and tokens involve real risk. Important risks include:

- Token price volatility and limited liquidity.
- Smart-contract, wallet, infrastructure, or marketplace failures.
- Bots, collusion, multiple accounts, exploits, and fraud.
- Poor economic balancing or insufficient player demand.
- Delays, design changes, or features that never reach production.
- Changes to third-party platforms, networks, or service providers.
- Different legal, tax, and regulatory treatment across locations.

Players should participate for the game and its utility, use only funds they can afford to lose, protect their wallets, and verify official links carefully.

---

## 19. What $REALM is—and is not

| $REALM is intended to be | $REALM is not promised to be |
| --- | --- |
| A shared utility token across Realm games. | Guaranteed income or passive yield. |
| A requirement for selected access and services. | A guarantee of profit or price appreciation. |
| A settlement asset for secure ecosystem markets. | Ownership or equity in the development team. |
| A way to support competitive, cosmetic, fleet, and creator systems. | A way to buy leaderboard score. |
| A long-term ecosystem layer that gains uses as games are added. | Proof that every proposed feature will launch. |

---

## 20. Glossary

**$REALM** — The planned shared utility token of the Realm game ecosystem.

**Realm ecosystem** — The collection of current and future games, services, markets, and communities using $REALM.

**Vastward: Deep Space** — The first game in the Realm ecosystem.

**Station Credits** — Vastward's non-transferable, non-withdrawable progression currency.

**Banked distance** — Eligible expedition distance permanently recorded after valid settlement.

**Ranked run** — A standardized competitive expedition where spending and owned equipment do not increase score.

**Launch Core** — A controlled component required for a Ranked launch.

**Regatta Kit** — A consumable participation item required for a Ranked launch.

**Token sink** — A product or action that requires players to spend tokens, creating utility and treasury inflow.

**Pre-funded reward** — A prize secured before it is publicly promised.

---

## 21. Final note

Realm is being built around a simple idea: a game token should remain useful because players have meaningful reasons to use it—not because the game endlessly distributes it.

Vastward: Deep Space is the first proving ground for that model. If it succeeds, the same foundation can support new games, new communities, and new forms of utility without abandoning the players who helped build the first world.

**One token. Many worlds. Vastward is only the beginning.**
