How to play
Your first flight, explained simply.
Follow these steps in order. The game keeps your profile and expedition outcome on the server, so you can focus on the decisions that matter.

Join a crew
Choose a callsign, enter an eight-character referral code and connect Phantom. If nobody invited you, use VASTWARD.

Check your ship
Start in the Hangar. Make sure your hull is safe, you have fuel and your modules are in usable condition.

Launch an expedition
Open Fly, choose a sector and flight stance, then launch. A normal expedition uses one Fuel Cell.

Make route decisions
When a decision appears, read the risk and choose before the timer ends. Missed choices fall back to your Autopilot.

Bank before greed wins
Progress and secured cargo become safe at route gates. If your hull fails, unsecured gains can be lost.

Return, repair and improve
Use recovered materials for repairs, Fuel Cells, modules, crafted items and power-ups. Sell only what your next upgrade does not need.
Read your ship
Five gauges decide how long you last.
Hull integrity
Your ship’s survival. Repair before it falls below the safe launch level.
Fuel
Your expedition clock. When it runs out, the run ends.
Cargo
Your carrying space. A full hold cannot collect more salvage.
Scanner
Helps you find salvage. Damage lowers its field performance.
Reactor
Keeps ship systems stable. Maintain it between expeditions.

Four chances to send your ship beyond the Station.
Every UTC reset delivers two Fuel Cells. Dispatch windows then open every six hours, with up to four opportunities per day.

What a Dispatch does
A Dispatch is a background survey that can recover Tier 1–2 common materials. Only one survey can be open at a time.
- The first two daily Dispatches use one Fuel Cell each.
- Dispatches three and four also consume one crafted Void Extractor.
- Yield now runs at 50% of an active expedition’s material rate, up from 30%.
Know what you own
Six resource types. Six different jobs.
Vastward never treats every balance as the same currency. Knowing the difference prevents expensive mistakes.
$REALM
The Solana token used for eligible player-market and Station purchases. It is not Station Credits.
Station Credits
Earned and spent inside the Station for services. They are non-withdrawable.
Fuel Cells
Consumable launch and Dispatch fuel. Two are delivered at each UTC reset.
Materials
Salvage recovered from expeditions and Dispatches. Used in repairs and recipes.
Crafted items
Functional supplies made from materials, including Fuel Cells and Void Extractors.
Power-ups
One-expedition items armed before launch, such as Cosmic Reservoir and Impact Barrier.
